A medium is just an person who has the ability to use more than his or her five senses. He or she does not have the ability to call up the dead, because it is not the medium who makes the choice of who they communicate with, the choice lies with the members of the spirit world.

Mediums however, can develop the ability to differentiate between spirits that come through and in turn can give clear evidence based readings.

Evidence based readings simply means that the spirit that is choosing to communicate will offer evidence to reassure the client that they are genuinely who the are claiming to be. 

It can be something obvious like your birthdate or something that perhaps only you and the person in spirit would know.
